Staff Equity Happy Hour & Staff Dialog
Our Cornelius Equity Team (Lourdes, Jacob, Alondra, Janelly, and Angella) would like to invite you to our first-ever Equity Happy Hour on Friday, 10/30 from 4 -5 pm! We won’t have a formal agenda; it will simply be a time to be together, get to know each other, talk about any situations involving race or other issues that have come up for us recently. Later, it can turn into a true happy hour and people can stay as long as they want. We are thinking of having it at Prime Time in the upstairs private room. We will be using our staff meeting on 10/28 at 8:45 am to have our first equity dialog of the year and get feedback from you all about what you would like to do this year for equity staff development. Please see a member of the Equity Team with any questions or feedback!
SLGGs - Training and Individual Meetings
At our CIT time on 10/28, we will review Student Learning Growth Goals (SLGGs) for certified staff. I will set an individual meeting with each certified staff member between now and Dec. 1st to have a goal-setting conference. There will be an optional evaluation training for new teachers and for any other certified staff who want a refresher on Tuesday 10/27 at 8 am in the TRC.
Parent Club News
Special thanks to our Padres en Acción Parent Club for providing dinner for our teachers during parent conferences! Our Padres en Acción will be hosting their first event this year, a Movie Night on Friday, Nov. 6th at 6:00 pm. The movie will be a new release: “Inside Out”! Our Padres en Acción meetings will now be the first Tuesday of the month - our next meeting is Nov. 3rd.
After School Program to Begin...Nov. 2nd
Thank you to the following staff who will be serving in our After School Reading and Math Club: Manuel Ramos & Merry Hansen in 2nd grade; Kathy Murillo & Daisy Heredia in 3rd grade; Jacob Bustamante & Chelsea Aillon in 4th grade, Cesar Loeza in Imagine Learning & ST Math; and supporting teachers: Elizabeth Aguilar, Sue Jansen, & Ana Hudson. We are inviting 70 2nd, 3rd, & 4th graders to participate in our after school program, who are all at risk in reading. Students will receive two days of reading instruction and two days of math instruction. Snacks and transportation will be provided! All of these students are also receiving interventions during the school day as well, so I can’t wait to see their growth after 70 days in our after school program. The program runs M-Th from 3:30 - 4:30 pm from Nov. 2 - Mar. 31.
