The Cornelius Chronicle
April 1, 2016

Anita Archer Gems
I apologize for promoting and encouraging the Anita Archer explicit instruction strategies!  A new study has just been published that shows that the discovery model is more effective than direct and explicit instruction.  I will be discontinuing the Anita Archer Gems in the Cornelius Chronicle!  It’s okay to continue using some of the strategies that you learned, but I won’t be specifically observing for opportunities to respond.  Please incorporate more discovery, experimental learning.  More to come on this in the future!

SBAC Testing
Great news!!  The State of Oregon has elected to discontinue state testing!  Therefore, we won’t be starting SBAC testing on Monday!  This news came just in time!  Our students and our school won’t be judged on how well we perform on standardized tests!!  Very exciting news!!

Spring Fundraiser
Our spring catalog fundraiser will last two weeks.  Not only will teachers earn items if their students sell things, TEACHERS will also earn items if YOU sell things!  That is right - the new competition is Staff vs. Students!  If 8 students sell at least one item, the teacher gets a free item from the catalog!  If 14 students sell at least one item, the teacher gets 3 free items from the catalog!  If 20 students sell at least one item, the teacher gets 3 free items from the catalog AND a $100 VISA gift card!!!  For every ten items that teachers sell, the teacher earns 2 items for FREE!!!  Teachers are also eligible for the limo lunch!!!!  You must sell 15 items to participate in the limo lunch!

By popular demand, announcing our NEW UNIFORM….
After hearing nothing but positive comments toward our spirit week, our new school uniform for teachers is PAJAMAS!  Please wear pajamas or sweats every Monday to set a tone for students for the week.  We want students to feel safe and comfortable at school.  Nothing says comfort like fleece pajamas!

Reminders:
  • Teachers - new forms have been added to TalentEd - please check your account today and get these filled out and signed ASAP!
  • All staff - you have one more online training to do that should have been given out at the beginning of the school year, but due to a technical glitch wasn’t distributed.  Please watch for an email from Kevin Noreen and complete the test/training by April 30.
