Mother’s Day Performance/Celebration

We will be celebrating Mother’s Day on May 9th with a special performance by 3rd and 4th grades:  Ballet and Music!  We will have a daytime dress rehearsal performance for students from 2-3 pm and then a big performance in the evening for parents from 6-7 pm.

Cornelius Kindergarten Round Up
Thanks to Emma, Irene, Daisy, Dora, Alondra, Melissa, Yenny, and Mandy (Irene’s daughter) for making our Kinder Round Up so successful!  We did something different this year by having a resource fair in the cafeteria for parents and giving out book bags with Spanish/bilingual books for each incoming kinder, and inviting families to check out the kinder rooms and meet the kinder teachers!  We gave out 30 book bags and registered 25 students….some families are still bringing back their forms. We only have space for 56 kinders, and I know that we will fill up quickly!  If other students register after our cap, they will attend Fern Hill with transportation provided.

Oregon State Spanish Spelling Bee

Our 4th grade Spanish Spelling Bee champ, Sophia Matamala-Osores, from Aillon’s class represented our school well at the Oregon Spelling Bee on April 8th at the District Office!  There were 80 students in grades 4-8 from 30 different schools and 8 districts represented at the State Spelling Bee today. She didn’t make the top 12 for the state, but that’s to be expected.  The top 12 were all middle schoolers!  The words were HARD!  We will do a Spanish spelling bee during Wednesday's CIT time so that staff can see how hard the words were!

Spring Picture Day

On Thursday, students can wear whatever they would like for picture day (uniform not required).  Only students who bring their money/order form in by Thursday will get their picture taken.  Cheryl will be sending out the schedule for picture day.  Staff can get their picture taken but it is not required like the fall.

Reminders:

• The 5K is May 14th!  Don't forget to sign up for the 5K race that benefits W.L. Henry Elementary this year!  http://www.teamupforstudents.org/
• Spring Fundraiser ends Monday 4/11 for prizes!!!  Announce to your students!
• There might be an unannounced fire drill this week - just sayin’! :)
