Year in Review
Thank you all for participating in our “Year in Review” activity during CIT time. It was good to reflect on what worked and didn’t work this year. We will be doing a follow-up to that on June 8th when we have our last staff meeting of the year and celebration during CIT time!
Field Day
A big thanks to Tony for organizing all of the supplies for each station for field day! Thank you to Cheryl and Cesar for making signs and doing some behind-the-scenes preparation! Thank you to all of our specialists, IAs, and volunteers for leading stations during field day! It was a lot of fun! Not even the rain could dampen our kids’ spirits! One of our parents commented that our students were so well behaved and polite during field day!
CIT on Wednesday
This Wednesday is a MOU day and I would like to propose that you use this time from 8-9 am to reflect on your year-end goals and self-evaluation form on Talent Ed labeled: Student Growth & Professional Goal Setting Summative Conference form and Year-End Self Assessment form. If you aren’t ready to complete your year-end goals, you can use this time to complete other year-end tasks.
Classified staff - you need to do a year-end self-evaluation on Talent Ed and I’d like you to use your late-start time before students arrive on Wednesday to do your self-evaluation too. Classified staff should have received an email from HR about how to log into Talent Ed and how to do the self-evaluation. Please let me know if you need any assistance!
Class Lists
We will be meeting with each grade level (except 4th grade, of course) to make classroom placements for next year the last week of school. I will share with you a form that we will use to make class lists. We want balanced classrooms and we will put all of our heads together to do this! Please don’t come to this meeting with your class lists pre-made, rather an idea of placement. We want to balance classrooms around the following criteria: gender, academic levels, language levels, behavioral/social development, special programs, parent input, & available space, all of which we will discuss together.
School Supplies
Don’t forget to get your school supply lists into me and Irene for each grade level! I think we should add ear buds to each grade level’s supply list!

Summer Reading Distribution
I’m going to give a big box of brand new books to each grade level team and let you decide how you’d like to distribute them to them to your students. Each student gets one book to add to their home library for summer reading! Also, on 5/31, Maria from City of Cornelius Library will be here to visit each classroom to talk up the summer reading program at all of the WA CO libraries!
I’ve noticed that last year and this year the staff room in the spring becomes a dumping ground of stuff that MAYBE someone will want some day! Chances are, if you don’t want it, no one else wants it! I know that several folks are moving rooms (or buildings). Please feel free to have your own “garage sale” in your classroom and let people know when they can peruse items, but don’t bring your unwanted items into the staff room. I spent 3 days last summer cleaning up the staff room and taking piles to the trash and recycling because no one wanted any of that stuff!

9:30-10:30 am - End of Year Assembly in gym
