Staff Appreciation Week
What an awesome week! The staff room was such a festive place this week! Thanks to everyone for making it fun and providing yummy treats! I want you to know that I’ve hired that masseuse on retainer for next year. :) LOL! Thanks to the Sunshine Committee for organizing a great week!
Dutch Bros. Fundraiser
Go to Cornelius and Hillsboro Dutch Brothers on Saturday, May 7th to support W.L. Henry to promote Team Up for Kids 5K! Bring the flyer that was in your mailbox to present to Dutch Bros, so that a portion of your purchase goes to W.L. Henry! Our school received $200 last year from this same fundraiser.
Volunteer Appreciation Invitations
Please send home the Volunteer Appreciation invitations to your volunteers!
Parent Input Forms
Please send home your Parent Input forms with all of your students (not 4th grade, obviously) for classroom placement next year. Any forms that you receive back should be turned into the office.
Healthy Teens/Healthy Choices
There will be someone here from this organization on Monday before school and at lunch in the staff room to provide info to staff about resources for your students. They know that we are a K-4 school! :)
Buy One, Get One FREE
5/16-5/20
Our school earns 10% of the profits of the book fair, which will put back into the library! This book fair is Buy One, Get One Free! If you buy a book for $5, you get to choose any other $5 book for free!
5/17 - student preview during regular library time (students can make a “wish list” to take home with them)
5/18-5/20 - Open before school, at lunch, & after school!
New Tech Guy
We are getting a new tech guy on Monday to replace Nate who replaced Jorge! Drumroll please…..it’s Francisco Sanchinelli - Irene’s son! Yay!
Reminders:
- I will be doing walkthroughs with Kevin Noreen (HR director) on Tuesday afternoon. He wants to get into the schools more to learn what we do! I don’t want anyone to be anxious about this. This is not evaluative; it’s for his professional development!
- We will have a consultant here next Friday to observe our SPED program. She will be speaking to our SPED teachers and me and observing some classrooms with highly impacted students in them. If I sent you an invite, she is visiting your classroom. If not, don’t worry about it.
The 5K is May 14th! Don't forget to sign up for the 5K race that benefits W.L. Henry Elementary this year! 9-11 am begins at Echo Shaw! http://www.teamupforstudents.org/
- Mother’s Day Special Performance by 3rd and 4th grades on May 9th - Ballet and Music! We will have a daytime dress rehearsal performance for students from 2-3 pm and then a big performance in the evening for parents from 6-7 pm.
- I would like all staff members (classroom teachers, SPED teachers/facilitators, IAs) who provide or support literacy instruction for students to complete this short 5-10 minute survey no later than Friday, May 13th. Here is the link: http://www.orrti.net/orsis_responses/add0
- If you would like to have your voice heard for what kind of education you want for our students in Oregon, please complete the Oregon Rising survey. It should take about 5-10 minutes. They are hoping to get 10,000 voices from Oregon citizens to participate in this survey. They say to DREAM BIG! If money weren’t an object, what would you like for all of our students? Here is the link for this survey: http://www.oregon-rising.org/
